BLP

All courses are completed through an online platform called Edgenuity, which can be accessed 24 hours a day. Edgenuity courses are taught by highly trained on-screen teachers. Coursework is well-aligned to district benchmark standards. All courses are locally supervised by teachers at A.P.P.L.e., who provide progress monitoring and direct support through supplemental activities and interventions that are based on the student’s individual needs.

Although attendance is not recorded daily for BLP students, attendance is determined by the percentage of Edgenuity work completed weekly. Students are required to complete a minimum of 20-35 hours of coursework per week (3-4 hours per day). Students are not required to be logged in during a particular time of day. On the Edgenuity Dashboard, students can access a Course Map for each course, which provides a list of scheduled assignments, quizzes, and/or tests. When the target progress goes consistently unmet, BLP staff begins truancy procedures. Parents are then contacted and a plan for getting the student caught up is developed and monitored by the instructor. Students who fail two or more classes in a quarter will be put on probation the following quarter. If academic progress is not met the following quarter, the student will be sent back to their home-base school.

Students will receive a grade at the end of the quarter. Report cards are sent out from the home-base school. Grades are based on the student’s Edgenuity work and/or district benchmarks. Coursework is weighed as follows:

• Actual Grade: 70% (taken from Edgenuity actual grade. Grade worth 85% for Q2 and Q4)
• Participation: 15% (taken from Edgenuity completion percentage)
• Benchmark Test: 15% (applicable for Q1 and Q3)

HS BLP students are required to take all Edgenuity tests in the BLP Lab on campus. HS Students must also come to campus for benchmark testing (Q1 and Q3) and LEAP 2025 testing (for some courses) at the end of the course term. K-8 BLP students may take Edgenuity and benchmark tests at home. K-5 BLP students are not required to take benchmark assessments. K-8 BLP students are required to take LEAP 2025 tests at their home-base schools. 

Students who qualify for special education services will receive those services at the home-base campus.  Transportation to and from the school is to be provided by the parent/guardian. Parents can choose to waive the right to SPED services for a child enrolled in the BLP.

1. Attend orientation at A.P.P.L.e. after being contacted by the virtual instructor.
2. Log into online courses regularly to meet weekly pacing & progress expectations.
3. Check the Edgenuity Dashboard for pacing percentages and Course Map for scheduled work.
4. Maintain a passing grade in every course.
5. Attend interventions and supplemental lessons in the BLP Lab when needed.
6. Communicate regularly with your virtual instructor.
7. Check your APSB email on a regular basis for instructor communications.

1. Monitor your child’s attendance, login, grades, and pacing.
2. Establish a routine at home (designate a quiet study area and create a consistent schedule for working online from home or library).
3. Communicate with your child’s teacher via email or by telephone.
4. Always provide the school with most up-to-date contact information, including email address.

BLP teachers are available by appointment to provide supplemental instruction and interventions for identified students. HS BLP students may come to campus daily from 8:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. and can stay in the afternoons on Monday and Wednesday from 12:00 P.M.- 3:00 P.M. K-8 BLP students will receive assistance via Google Meet or by phone.

BLP Students can enroll in courses to earn industry-based credentials.

Bus transportation to A.P.P.L.e. is available from the home-base school.
