Fully certified teachers providing progress monitoring, interventions, strategies, and individual instruction daily.

Internet based instruction - delivering curriculum to students via Edgenuity with courses that have been aligned to District Benchmarks and that provide students with essential learning.

Students can access courses 24/7 on any internet-based computer (at home, the library, or on campus).

Bus transportation is provided to campus.

Breakfast and lunch are served daily.

• Attend classes on campus daily to receive teacher support and group or individual interventions.
• Log in online and complete scheduled assignments in every course daily.
• Be on pace in every course.
• Maintain a passing grade in every course (67 or above).
• Complete a minimum of 20-35 active hours of coursework per week (3-4 hours per day).
• Be present for required testing (unit tests, cumulative exams, benchmarks, TABE, LEAP, EOC, etc.)

• Monitor your child’s attendance, login, grades, and pacing.
• Establish a routine at home (designate a quiet study area and create a consistent schedule for working online from home or library).
• Communicate with your child’s teacher via email or by telephone.
• Always provide the school with most up-to-date contact information, including email address.
• NOTE: If the student is consistently absent, the parent and/or child may be referred to Child Protection, Family Court, or the Local District Attorney’s Office by the Child Welfare and Attendance Department.

ALL students MUST take an initial drug screen test to enter the program and at the start of the school year. Drug testing for ALP students is free at Ascension Medical Clinic on 214 South Burnside Ave in Gonzales, LA or at Prevost Hospital on 301 Memorial Drive in Donaldsonville, La. Students must bring drug screening form to orientation for proof. 

Students who fail to submit drug screen within 5 days of enrollment or the start of the school year will have their possibility of early exit delayed by the number of days it takes for drug screen to be submitted. 

Students who test positive at a drug screening or who are expelled due to a drug/alcohol related offense must enroll in the drug/substance abuse program at Ascension Counseling Center located at 1112 East Ascension Complex Blvd in Gonzales, LA. within 5 days of a positive drug test.

Contact Ascension Counseling Center. (ACC)

ACC will conduct an initial assessment. (intake)

↓

ACC will tell you the total number of sessions you will have to attend at the next session.

Bring your Green Card to campus each week to show your teacher and Mrs. Fletcher your documentation of attendance.

Once all counseling sessions are completed, you will receive a certificate of completion, which must be submitted to A.P.P.L.e. to exit.

NOTE: Students who enroll due to a drug/alcohol related expulsion or who test positive must comply with the recommended drug/alcohol treatment program specified by Ascension Counseling Center.

• ALL Students are EXPELLED for one calendar year (two complete semesters  or four complete semesters) as determined by APSB policy.

• Possibilities for early release at 45 days (limited) and 90 days.

• Passing and on-pace in 100% of courses (Students will be required to continue the program until they are on pace and passing in all courses).
• Required drug counseling and/or alcohol treatment programs through Ascension Counseling Center, who will set the number of counseling sessions needed to meet ACC requirements.
• A clean drug exit screening from Ascension Medical Clinic in Gonzales or Prevost in Donaldsonville submitted at least a week before exit.
• No major behavior referrals.
• Must be the student’s first expulsion.

NOTE:  Students who complete ALP may be interested in continuing their education virtually via the Blended Learning Program (BLP).

1. All students exit on a Friday after 12 P.M.
2. Homebase school is notified at beginning of the week of exit.
3. Results of drug screen must be received.
4. Students take TABE test (if applicable) on Friday or before.
5. A.P.P.L.e. prepares exit packet.
6. Parent/guardian comes to sign packet after 12 P.M. on Friday.
7. Parent brings student to homebase school (with packet) on Monday morning.

NOTE: Any delays due to failure to meet criteria listed above will delay student’s exit until the next Friday.

Bus Transportation is a privilege. Students must follow expectations and rules as established by the bus driver. Failure to comply with bus rules & expectations will result in bus suspensions and can result in termination of bus privileges. No food or beverages are allowed on the bus.

Buses run daily from current satellite bus stops across Ascension Parish.
